Our signature voyage begins with a brief introduction on shore followed by a short safety meeting where you will be outfitted with life preserving equipment before we hit the seas.  After boarding the Zodiac and departing from the harbour, the mountainside community of Pleasant Bay and its surrounding area, which was known as Limbo Cove once upon a time, will create a perfect backdrop for your whale and marine life excursion.

The bold coastline is filled with towering cliffs, amazing rock formations, secluded beaches and mysterious sea caves.  In contrast to other tour companies serving the area, we aim to add a touch of history and folklore to the mix in order to give our guests a fascinating idea of what it took to survive and thrive in the rugged yet spectacular terrain of Limbo Cove. Learn about the unique weather systems that helped forge our coast line, valleys and mountains. Whether it be hurricane force south-east winds that blow out to sea at up to 140 miles/hr or powerful north-west gales that pound the coast with punishing waves our waters can change from serene, lake-like conditions to raging storms in a matter of hours. Tales of the early settlers, fishing, shipwrecks and gold are all part of what makes the Limbo Cove experience second to none.

Although each trip is different, on any given day we usually encounter a myriad of bird and marine life as we zip through the waves in search of adventure. Pilot Whales, Minke Whales, Humpbacks, Fin Whales, Blue Whales, Seals, Dolphins, Tuna, Sharks and even Sea Turtles have been spotted only a short distance from shore. Eagles, Hawks, Northern Gannets and Cormorants are also usually seen perched on the cliffs or diving for prey with speed and precision.

Black Bears, Deer and Moose can sometimes be seen climbing along the mountainside or roaming the grassy lowlands that are found up and down the rugged shoreline of our beautiful island. Other excursions include trips to more remote areas like Fishing Cove, Polletts Cove and lots of other hidden gems in between. Although these places are visited by hikers and backpackers they still remain some of the the most remote and untamed sources of rugged beauty that this island has to offer. You can choose to get dropped off for a day of exploring before getting picked up by boat or you may choose to hike one way and get picked up or dropped off. Please note that weather conditions have to be favorable for hiking and camping pick-ups or drop-offs and proper planning is essential.
